Contractors experienced in compliance and governance still find themselves on the ‘most wanted’ list, despite London’s job market suffering a glut of available talent.
May’s London Employment Monitor from recruiter Morgan McKinley reveals a continued shortage of skilled compliance and governance professionals. This could present contractors with the perfect opportunity to step in and save the day, providing businesses with short-term access to the expertise they need.
This shortage comes against the backdrop of an ever-growing pool of available talent, with the number of professionals seeking new opportunities skyrocketing by 101% over the last year.
Morgan McKinley also found that the number of job opportunities dropped month-on-month, with 20% fewer vacancies advertised. The report claimed this could be the result of May being a short working month.
Hakan Enver, Morgan McKinley’s operations director, said: “The dip in the monthly numbers was a bit of a surprise. It appears as if everyone went to the pub to celebrate that the elections were finally over and by the time they’d recovered it was half-term and time to take the kids to Disneyland Paris.”
He added that it was “too early” to call the slump a reversal of the upward trend, predicting a return to growth as the year progresses.
