Well, what a year it has been for recruiters. Zoom interviews, working from home and figuring out imaginative ways to communicate with clients, are all things they have had to contend with and, economically, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster.

When the news of lockdown hit back in March, the number of job vacancies plummeted and this was a very worrying time for the industry. The good news is talent acquisition is really bouncing back and job vacancies might be heading for V-shaped recovery (see below).

Recruiters have adapted incredibly well to this seismic change. So this year’s TALiNT International Annual Recruitment Awards (or TIARAs for short) is more important than ever. These awards highlight excellence, innovation and growth in the UK’s top recruitment firms.

What are the TIARAs?

The TIARAs are hosted by TALiNT Partners and highlight the best of the best in the recruitment industry. As TALiNT Partners put it themselves, it is a “campaign to promote finalists to over 52,000 inhouse and agency leaders through our TALiNT International platform”.

This year’s event was like no other and was held virtually for the first time, but this didn’t make the awards any less prestigious. Forty of the UK’s top recruitment agencies were finalists in fifteen award categories. They had a combined turnover of £8.99 billion, NFI of £1.4 billion, and 26,444 employees.

So, where does Parasol come into it?

Parasol has been working hand-in-hand with the recruitment industry for over 20 years, and we thought it was only natural for us to partner with the event. Innovation is part and parcel of Parasol and we want to partner with TALiNT to highlight the great companies within the recruitment industry that share in our values.

The award we sponsored was The Parasol Temporary Recruitment Company of the Year and our very own Clarke Bowles was a part of the judging panel. First off, the individual judges looked at the main categories for each entry, this included: Staff Development, Innovation, Clients/Candidate Service, Business Growth and Purpose and Values.

Once finished, the judges collated provisional scores and feedback comments. They then discussed and finalised the scores and comments from the judging panel. We are delighted to congratulate Morson Group on winning The Parasol Temporary Recruitment Company of the Year.

Morson Group was praised for its support of contractors, particularly its initiatives around mental wellbeing and early detection of COVID-19. All entries were genuinely outstanding but unfortunately, there could only be one winner. Here is what Clarke Bowles had to say about the event:

“Parasol has been influential in delivering unrivalled support and adding value to the recruitment sector industry for over 20 years. We are dedicated to driving compliance and education throughout the entire recruitment supply chain which, along with our best in class service proposition and delivery, truly sets us apart.

We strive for the best and are delighted to be supporting the Temporary Recruitment Company of the Year at this year’s TIARA awards to highlight recruitment businesses who share our values and continue to strive for excellence throughout the industry.”

The future of recruitment is bright

If there was one key take away you could get from the event, it is that the future of recruitment is bright. Although this year has been tough, the energy and innovation the industry is showing is second to none. Recruitment is quickly adapting to the new world of work and the industry is bouncing back.

There is a real sense of resilience that courses through the lifeblood of the recruitment industry. With reforms to IR35 on the horizon, the adaptability the industry has shown has really does bode well for the future.
