I retired in 2010 as I wanted to spend more time with my family. However, I received numerous requests from former colleagues to assist in various projects, so rather than set up a new company, I contacted Parasol. Parasol has enabled me to have the best of both worlds. Much of my work I do from home, so I’m able to combine work and family successfully, with flexibility around working hours. Being able to log timesheets and expenses online makes administration work easy. When the odd problem does arise, Parasol are only an email or a phone call away and an acceptable solution has always been reached. For people like me who prefer to “wind down” on retirement rather than a sudden stop, I would certainly recommend using Parasol. It’s a great flexible way of minimising administration time and costs, so you can concentrate on the “core business” and family.
Parasol has been a great support to me in my contracting career. I first heard about umbrella companies in 2006 and after a shaky start in contracting, I joined Parasol and never looked back. Parasol’s undivided attention on the phone is great and the online portal is quick and easy, making the process of submitting my timesheets and claiming expenses extremely straightforward. The portal continues to improve and my weekly pay slips are now laid out very clearly, and are easy to print. A few years ago I was considering going Limited, and I got in touch with Parasol’s sister company, ClearSky Contractor Accounting. They were very helpful and assessed me according to my recent record with Parasol. In the end, I decided that limited company wasn’t the best option for me, but I would recommend Parasol and ClearSky to anybody looking to further their contracting career.
I have been a contract writer and content editor since early 2014, and have used Parasol from the start. I can't fault the company's service, and even when an error has previously been made by a third party, Parasol has sorted it. As well as the customer service staff being helpful and incredibly speedy at responding, the online payment portal is a joy to use. I wouldn't say many could go far wrong in choosing Parasol as their umbrella agency.
