What is CIS?
Under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), contractors are required to deduct tax from payments made to subcontractors to cover the subcontractor’s tax liability. If you’re registered under CIS, you’re taxed at 20%, unlike non-CIS workers’ who are deducted 30%.
